Batavia Feeder Basketball 2025-2026 - Boys Evaluations
Batavia Feeder Basketball has been in existence for over 30 years due to the tireless efforts of many. Our thanks goes out to these volunteers. Batavia Feeder Basketball seeks to provide a wholesome opportunity for 1st through 8th grade boys and girls to learn, enjoy and be competitive in the game of basketball. We believe in giving every athlete a chance to grow both in skills development and team play. Athletes will be asked to be committed to the team and their own growth by participating in all practices and games. The club believes that individual and team growth can both be accomplished while giving each athlete equitable opportunity to grow in skills and game situations. Above all, we hope that each child will come out of the program desiring to continue in the game of basketball.

FAQ
Q: Should you attend both tryout sessions?
A: Yes. We recommend that all girls attend both tryout sessions. We will be better able to evaluate all players if they attend both sessions.
Q: When should we arrive for tryouts?
A: Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to tryouts to sign in at the registration desk. You must be registered at bataviafeederbasketball.com to participate.
Q: Can I register at the door the day of the tryout?
A: No, you must be registered at bataviafeederbasketball.com to participate.
Q: How do we choose sizes for our daughter’s jersey and warm up shirt?
A: There will be a MANDATORY sizing night. Uniform sizing will be held on two nights, yet to be determined, in September at RMS. So BFB can make sure we are ordering a uniform that is sized correctly for your daughter, you must attend one of the above sessions so she can try on a sample uniform.
Q: Who will be coaching the teams?
A: BFB is a not-for-profit organization that relies on volunteers to coach teams. We will be looking for parent volunteers to run the teams. Moms or Dads are welcome. We would like at least 2 parents per team.
Q: How are teams formed, and how many teams will be formed?
A: The number of teams formed will be based on the number of girls participating. Girls from all grade levels will evaluated. If possible, we will make 1 or 2 teams at each grade level. We want to create an environment that is best for the girls. That means that, while we would like to keep all players, it is possible that some players do not make any BFB team.
Q: Can a player play in a different age range?
A: While we recommend that all players play in their proper age division, it is possible for a player to play in a higher age bracket if it is appropriate for numbers and ability level.
Q: How old do you have to be to be evaluated?
A: The league we use has teams as low as 4th grade. If we have enough 4th graders and coaches for a 4th grade team, then we will enter a 4th grade team. Last year we had 2 teams with 4th and 5th grade girls mixed. If you have a 3rd grade daughter who would like to try to play with the 4th grade team, we will accept those participants for evaluations as well.

4 th - 8th Grade Competitive Travel Teams
1. BFB will have up to three (depending upon numbers & abilities) Competitive Travel Teams at each grade level. Teams will consist of either 9 or 10 players.
2. Teams will be placed at the appropriate level in the DuPage Youth Travel Basketball League (DYTBL).
3. Evaluations will take place on 8/18/24 and 8/25/24 (times will be announced shortly). It is not mandatory that your daughter attends both sessions, but it is highly recommended, as it gives the evaluators more time to evaluate your daughters' abilities.
4. There will be Coaches Clinics in October 2024. All players will be invited to come and learn as well.
5. Individual team practices will begin in 10/28/24. Depending on game schedules, practices hopefully will be scheduled for the same days each week. Two to three practices per week will be held prior to the games beginning. Once games begin, typically there will be 1-2 practices per week. One of these practices each week will be a skills session at M14.
6. Games will begin approximately Mid-November. The teams will play between 16 and 20 games in the DYTBL (half at home and half away). Games will be held any day of the week. Away games will be within a 20-mile radius (Elmhurst is probably the furthest). No out- of-state travel is involved unless a team (with all team member’s approval) signs up to play in an out-of-state tournament.
7. Each team will play in a year-end DYTBL Tournament (typically the end of February) and one other tournament. Teams, with member’s approval, can enter more tournaments at their expense.
8. It is possible that the evaluators will determine that, at this time, your daughter's skills are not proficient enough to allow her to compete at a high level. If that is the case, a refund will be issued.
M14 Location and Procedures
Below are some requirements and procedures that we must follow when our participants are at M14.
Location:
1. M14 is located at 2414 Church Road in Aurora. From Batavia, simply go either East or West on Butterfield Road (Rt. 56) and turn South on Church Road. Continue South on Church across Bilter Road and M14 will be on the right hand side across from Gonnella Baking.
2. Please have your son or daughter enter M14 through the Front Door.
3. Please park in the Main Lot.
4. No parents will be allowed in the facility.
Procedures:
1 The participants should bring their own basketballs.
2. The participants should bring their own water.

BFB was originally started as a 7th and 8th Grade program in 1993. Several years later a separate group started a 5th and 6th Grade Program. These two independent programs joined forces in 2002 with a strong synergy and focus. The Girls Program was added for the 2017-18 Season. BFB also joined forces with All-Star Sports to provide a high quality program for 1st and 2nd graders for the 2017-18 Season. It has been built by a core of individuals around a core set of beliefs and philosophies centered on the youth of Batavia’s community and the community itself. Currently, the program serves over 325 youths from 1st – 8th grade with a quality program that is well-aligned with the Batavia High School program and objectives, and has retained a high level of participant satisfaction over the years.

Boys FAQ
Q- Player Evaluation-How is it done and how is player team assignment determined?
A- There are two 1 Hour evaluation sessions for grades 3 & 4 and two 1-1/2 Hour evaluation sessions for grades 5-8. These evaluation sessions are conducted by the BFB Board members, each of whom have extensive basketball experience. At these evaluation sessions the boys and girls will participate in drills allowing the evaluators to determine each players mastery of basic basketball skills. They will also scrimmage so the evaluators can see how they do in a team situation. After evaluations are completed, the evaluators sit down and determine where each player should be placed.
Q- When will teams be selected?
A- The teams will be selected and parents and players will be notified within 7-10 days of the evaluations.
Q- When will the season begin?
A- With the exception of the 7th/8th Recreational Travel Teams, practices will begin approximately October 28th and games will begin approximately the second week of November. The 7th/8th Recreation Travel practices begin approximately January 4th and games will begin the last week of January.
Q- How long does the season last?
A- Below please find the approximate start and finish dates of the BFB Programs
3rd-8th Competitive Travel-October 28th to March 9th
4th/6th Recreational Travel-October 28th to January 20th
7th/8th Recreational Travel-January 8th to March 16th
Q- What leagues do the teams play in?
A- The Competitive Travel teams play in the DuPage Youth Travel Basketball League (DYTBL) and the Recreational Travel teams compete against St. Charles Recreational Travel teams.
Q- How do the 7th/8th grade programs work with the RMS 7th/8th grade programs?
A- The BFB 7th and 8th grade Competitive Travel teams and the RMS 7th and 8th grade school teams operate concurrently. Because almost all of the 7th and 8th grade boys on the BFB Competitive Travel teams are also on the RMS teams, and the RMS teams are practicing every day, the BFB 7th and 8th grade Competitive Travel teams do not need to practice as much. As a result, in order to prevent overlap and burnout, the BFB 7th and 8th grade Competitive Travel teams are limited to one practice per week and can only play 1 game per week on either Saturday afternoon or Sunday during the school season.
Q- When will practice and game schedules be available?
A- Practice schedules will be done on a monthly basis and should be available around the 15th of the prior month. Competitive Travel game schedules will be available after the DYTBL meeting in late October. 5th/6th Recreational Travel game schedules should be available approximately October 24th.
Q-.Who do I contact if I have a question or an issue that needs to be addressed?
A- Please see the list of grade level commissioners located under the "Contact Us" section of the "About Us" tab located on the home page of this website.
