Batavia Fastpitch Softball 2025-2026 - Evaluations

About Batavia Fastpitch Girls Softball

Welcome to Batavia Fastpitch Softball (BFS). BFS offers traveling fastpitch softball opportunities at several age levels. Our focus is to offer a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants. In order to ensure each players future success, the development of both basic softball skills, as well as advanced techniques are stressed. We believe in giving every athlete a chance to grow, both in skills development and team play. Athletes will be asked to be committed to the team, and their own growth, by participating in all practices and games. The club believes that individual and team growth can both be accomplished while giving each athlete equitable opportunity to grow in skills and game situations. Above all, we hope that each child will come out of the program desiring to continue playing fastpitch softball.

12U

12U Batavia Travel Softball - 2 Teams

Team Crimson and Team Gold

All Practices & Home games- will be at BHS softball fields.

The 2024 - 2025 12U program is a full-time program and players are expected to participate fully in all phases of the season. The charter of Batavia Fastpitch Softball is to be a "farm" or feeder system for Batavia High School which is why the majority of our players are from Batavia. The BFS Board, in conjunction with the coaching staff, feel that the following structure is the best way to get as many Batavia Fastpitch Softball players the softball skills necessary to succeed at higher levels. In the future, this will allow each player to be the best high school players they can be.

Season Structure

Fall -  During the fall we will have practice once or twice a week in September and October and  will play around 20 games. These 20 games will include friendly games with neighboring towns and 1 or 2 tournaments.  We will also have both teams participate together in any team bonding activities.

Winter -  In the winter, your child will receive group outside professional hitting instruction. They also will have access, up to 2 times per week, to training at the Batavia High School Field House with the 14U, 16U, and High School Softball Players. This training is broken down into 3-4 stations that cover hitting, infield defensive skills, outfield defensive skills, and situational training.

Spring/Summer - The final part of the season will consist of wrapping up individual games and any league playoffs. We also will be playing the majority of our tournaments (4-5) during May, June and July. Most likely, 1 of these tournaments will be out of town. We have historically traveled to either Wisconsin or Iowa for this tournament.

13U and 14U

All Practices & Home games- will be at BHS softball fields.

The 13 U and 14U program is a full-time program and players are expected to participate fully in all phases of the season.  For the 2024-2025 season the  travel program will field two teams that will be run as 1 program.  This approach may sound unusual, but this is mainly to accommodate Illinois High School Association rules and restrictions on high school players playing travel softball.  During the IHSA softball season, which is from February to the Middle of May, any girls playing high school softball are strictly prohibited from practicing or playing any type of travel softball.

Spring - We will mostly play individual games with surrounding towns and play in one or two  tournaments, depending on the weather.  This is a great chance for the younger players (7th and 8th Grade) to really get a lot of extra playing time and experience, as the high school girls on the team will be restricted by IHSA rules.  We will target playing an additional 20-25 games in this timeframe with a single team, depending on the weather.  The games will be a combination of single games, round robins, and tournaments.

Summer - The last segment of our season will be summer. This is when our high school players will return to the program. The last part of the season will consist of wrapping up individual games and any league playoffs. We also will be playing the majority of our tournaments (4-5) during May, June and July. Most likely, 1 of these tournaments will be out of town. We have historically traveled to either Wisconsin or Iowa for this tournament.

All Practices & Home games- will be at BHS softball fields.

For the 2023-2024 season the 16U travel program will be a hybrid of High School and BFS. The majority of 16U BFS Players will also be playing softball at some level for the High School.  This means that the 16U BFS team will mostly be a summer tournament team.

Season Structure

Fall - 8-10 Games/ 1 tournaments during the fall. We want the high school players to concentrate on the BHS Fall School Sports. We will have practice once a week in September and October on Sundays.

Winter - In the winter the 16U team will have professional hitting instruction and will have two indoor practices a week with the rest of the travel softball program and the high school teams.  In February, the high school team will break off and prepare for their high school season.

Spring - From March to Mid-May most of the 16U players will be playing high school softball (BHS Varsity, JV 1, or JV 2).  As a result, those players are not allowed under IHSA rules to participate in BFS events. When their season concludes, they will be free to play travel softball again and we will begin to play in tournaments.

Summer - 16U players will also be encouraged to play High School Summer league softball, but it will not be required.  Five (5) tournaments will be scheduled that will interfere, as little as possible, with the High School Summer League games.
